A Linear Time Algorithm for the k Maximal Sums Problem

چکیده
Finding the sub-vector with the largest sum in a sequence of n numbers is known as the maximum sum problem. Finding the k sub-vectors with the largest sums is a natural extension of this, and is known as the k maximal sums problem. In this paper we design an optimal O(n+k) time algorithm for the k maximal sums problem. We use this algorithm to obtain algorithms solving the two-dimensional k maximal sums problem in O(m ·n+ k) time, where the input is an m×n matrix with m ≤ n. We generalize this algorithm to solve the d-dimensional problem in O(n +k) time. The space usage of all the algorithms can be reduced to O(n + k). This leads to the first algorithm for the k maximal sums problem in one dimension using O(n + k) time and O(k) space.

Efficient Solution Procedure to Develop Maximal Covering Location Problem Under Uncertainty (Using GA and Simulation)
In this paper, we present the stochastic version of Maximal Covering Location Problem which optimizes both location and allocation decisions, concurrently. It’s assumed that traveling time between customers and distribution centers (DCs) is uncertain and described by normal distribution function and if this time is less than coverage time, the customer can be allocated to DC. In classical mod...

The Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP) is one of the most general and difficult of all traditional scheduling problems. The Flexible Job Shop Problem (FJSP) is an extension of the classical job shop scheduling problem which allows an operation to be processed by any machine from a given set. The problem is to assign each operation to a machine and to order the operations on the machine...

متن کاملMathematical Model for Bi-objective Maximal Hub Covering Problem with Periodic Variations of Parameters
The problem of maximal hub covering as a challenging problem in operation research. Transportation programming seeks to find an optimal location of a set of hubs to reach maximum flow in a network. Since the main structure's parameters of the problem such as origin-destination flows, costs and travel time, change periodically in the real world applications, new issues arise in handling it. In t...

We consider the maximal covering location-allocation problem with multiple servers. The objective is to maximize the population covered, subject to constraints on the number of service centers, total number of servers in all centers, and the average waiting time at each center. Each center operates as an M/M/k queuing system with variable number of servers. The total costs of establishing cen...
